The Astronomical New Moon for Ramadan 1445 will occur on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, at 9:00 Universal Time. On this day, the elongation will be more than 8 degrees, and the Moon will be more than 5 degrees above the Sun everywhere in North America. Therefore, the first day of Ramadan 1445 will be on Monday, March 11th, 2024, inshaAllah.

Tarawih Prayer and Eid al-Fitr

Tarawih prayers will begin on Sunday night, March 10th. The date of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, will be determined by the sighting of the crescent Moon which marks the beginning of the new lunar month of Shawwal.

Eid al-Fitr is expected to be celebrated in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Pakistan, the US, the UK, Qatar, and other countries on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, subject to the Moon's visibility.

Eid al-Fitr in India and Turkey

India

In India, Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 is expected to be observed on April 10th or 11th. The final date will depend on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent Moon on the evening of April 9th, 2024.

Turkey

In Turkey, Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 is projected to fall on April 11th.
